THE WILLIAMSBURG Arlington, Virginia A $42 Million Thirteen Story Highrise Residential & Mixed Use Development
Physical Characteristics of the Project The Williamsburg is a new highrise development constructed for residential and commercial use. Below grade there is a three level parking garage. Project statistics are as follows:
Type of Construction Development parameters involved sheeting and shoring of the site prior to building construction. Primary structural framing components consisted of cast-in-place post-tension decks supported by mildly reinforced cast-in-place concrete columns. Construction proceeded under a design/build fast-track format. Structural design utilized "Post-X" computer aided design software. Construction type was 2C. Contract Performance Statistics The initial design phase schedule called for design to commence in December 1991 and be completed by December 1992. The actual design schedule was as stated. The initial construction schedule called for mobilization in October 1992 and completion by October 1993. This construction schedule was met. The initial (or bid) estimate was $42 Million. The final construction cost was $42 Million. The project was designed and constructed on-time and within budget. Responsibilities of Meyer Consulting Engineers MCE was retained to provide full-service structural engineering services for the project. Our tasks encompassed all phases of the work and were accomplished utilizing state-of-the-art computerized design and drafting programs. In the construction phase of the work, our field services division was also retained under separate contract to provide Contractor Quality Control (CQC) and Construction Inspection. |
