Size & Type of Project Quincy Plaza is a new a new 499 unit luxury apartment building, retail & garage complex consisting of approximately 708,300 square feet, of which approximately 671,448 square feet are framed. The building has a four level below grade garage, retail, additional parking beneath a structured pool deck, and 21 levels of apartments plus a penthouse. The first “apartment” level consists of retail, lobby and common area. The building steps back in area as it increases in height. Floors 2 through 15 are repetitive as are floors 16 through 21. Sheeting and shoring were required. Elevated decks will be post-tension concrete. The project’s location is near METRO. Therefore, our design incorporated appropriate WMATA standards.
The project proceeded under a fast-track basis using a developer led design/build method of project delivery. Design work began in April 2003 and was completed on-time in January 2004. Groundbreaking (excavation) occurred in February 2004 with occupancy in late summer 2006. The construction cost was approximately $94 Million.
