Size & Type of Project - Evaluation of Existing Improvements (Feasibility Study) & Design of a New Replacement School
Pangborn Elementary School was originally constructed in 1955 and later renovated in 1964. The school consists of 50,560 SF and has a projected 2006-07 enrollment of approximately 590 students – 113 students over its state-rated capacity.
Meyer Consulting Engineers Corporation was part of a multi-disciplined A/E commissioned in December 2005 to conduct a feasibility study to improve existing construction, and if not feasible, design a completely new school on the same site. The study indicated that new construction was preferable and design work commended on a two story, 83,000 SF facility in June 2006. Permit documents were completed in February 2007 and construction commenced in April 2006. Construction was completed on time in August 2008 at a cost of $22.1 Million. The existing school was kept operational during construction of the new facility.
