Size & Type of Project - Existing Wood Framed Apartments – Hurricane Damage Evaluation
Meyer Consulting Engineers Corporation was commissioned on an emergency, expedited basis in September 2005 to provide structural engineering and related inspection documentation for damage incurred due to Hurricane Katrina. We dispatched teams of structural engineers and inspectors to Mississippi and Louisiana to evaluate the damage to a wide variety of buildings including apartments, radio and television facilities, manufacturing plants, ports, and commercial buildings.
The Maison d’Orleans Apartments was one such project. It is a three story wood framed apartment complex that was heavily damaged by high winds and flooding.
MCE Scope of Services
Meyer Consulting Engineers performed a detailed structural assessment and inspection of the complex. We documented damage to structural framing and architectural elements, determined which framing elements had to be repaired and/or replaced, and developed detailed cost estimates.
Key MCE personnel included Michael A. Moran, III, P.E. (Principal Project Structural Engineer, Sanjoy Bose, P.E. (Senior Project Structural Engineer) and Timothy Swift (Structural Inspector).
