HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL SOUTHWEST PARKING GARAGE Silver Spring, Maryland
Size & Type of Project - (Fast Track) The new Holy Cross Hospital Southwest Parking Structure has four levels and houses 521 vehicles. The garage consists of approximately 151,840 square feet, of which 113,070 square feet are framed. Spread foundations support the garage superstructure. Superstructure framing components consist of precast/prestressed columns, “T”s, beams and spandrels. Construction involved demolition of an older parking structure to make way for the new.
Scope of Services
Design work began in February 2001. Construction was completed 2 months ahead of schedule in April 2002 at a cost of $6,857,000 (within budget). The contractor was Bovis Lend Lease. Key MCE personnel included Michael A. Moran, III, P.E. (Project A/E Administrator, Principal Parking Consultant & Principal Structural Engineer), Arvind Parikh, P.E. (Senior Project Structural Engineer), Sanjoy Bose, P.E. (Structural Engineer) and Shannon Doherty (Chief CAD Draftsman).
